Tales From The Crypt

In the genre of Horror Comics from early days, no other comic magazine was as famous as the series of Tales From The Crypt. Tales from the Crypt, along with its other siblings, The Haunt of Fear and The Vault of Horror were three bi-monthly horror comic series published by EC Comics in the early 1950s.

                Tales from the Crypt hit bookstalls with its October/November 1950 issue (#20) and closed its publication with its February/March 1955 issue (#46), producing a total of 27 issues .Its initial three issues, #17-19, were published under the title The Crypt of Terror.

                     The series was very popular, but during that period but some section of society like school-teachers, clerks-man thought that the series contributed to illiteracy. In April and June 1954, highly publicized hearings from Congressional subcommittee   left the industry shaken. The hearing was about the effects of comic books upon children. Then due to highly imposed comic code, the  publishers had to stop the production.

Though the series was then banned, still it was very popular. in 1987 the series was adapted for HBO's movie adaptation as a series named Tales From The Crypt and was aired.

 The Crypt Of Terror Series were the fore-runner of Tales From The Crypt. After The Issue #17 of Crypt Of Horror Series, the series name was changed to TAles From The Crypt..
